unbelieveable
They have baned fishing pass 20 miles. Everyone is still cobia fishin and they are tearing it up right now, but all I can bring myself to do is watch this unbeliveable shit pouring out of the ground. They need to dump 200 barges of rocks on top of the biggest non nuclear bomb and blow it up. It is pumping a huge oil reserve and I feel like we will get to watch it pump for many YEARS to come. Monday they already found 16 dead sea turtles. HEY ENVIROMENTILAST, YOU FAILED, CAUSE YOU BARKED UP THE WRONG TREE!! Get to work DUMMY. ![]()

Like a post said above, environmentalists failed to keep "big oil" from drilling in the Gulf.
But what could be expected ? If congress has been powerless against oil interests, how can a few groups of activists and a handful of businesses be expected to have any influence? Failure was inevitable. Environmentalists have been stereotyped as whiny, hippie, alarmist types.Limited credibility mean limited influence. Limited money doesn't help either.
The environmentalists failed to stop offshore drilling alright but it wasn't for lack of trying.
The big oil folks failed to heed the warning.
The failsafe system with 3 backups failed to work.
Halliburton's technical failure may be ultimately to blame for the explosion and resulting spill. Destoying countries and economies just wasn't enough for them.

Now 11 people are dead and oil's gushing into the gulf.
Tell you what though, if that shit hits anywhere near where my friends raise clams, longline, guide anglers, and net mullet, this old environmentalist and his old ProLine will be lending a hand - I'll clean whatever I can.
If the beach where the huge mako was caught gets comprimised, don't be surprised if environmentalists show up to help clean up the mess the rich, influential guys made. Maybe soon a bigger mako will get caught off that beach. Maybe this old environmentalist will show it up with a white.

I was too harsh, I am glad the enviromental groups do what they can and i understand the oil companys have big money and lobbiest. I am glad they have lobbied to put limits on the comercial fisherys. I just think the groups responsible for looking over the big oil companys must have been payed to keep quiet if not they realy droped the ball. Sorry if i offended you Bill, but i was not talking about an enviromentalist on your level. This contry is waiting for one company to weld a quick fix up when 15 companys should be doing it. This isnt BP's problem alone, it is every oil companys problem. So far this morning I have picked up 2 full bags of beer botles that someone left at a camp site and I helped a 40lb alagator snapping turtle across the road, but please dont confuse me with those guys hugging trees or protesting our rights to keep our fish we catch. That is the waisted time i am speaking of. I hope ya do catch a big record mako bill.

Yeah my whole life depends on it. If tourism goes my small business is in trouble. My fishing in every aspect may be a thing of the past. I guess we gona get a big taist of what texas has had for a long time. Every year a large crop of sargasum grass hits the beach with lots of tarpon, sharks everything. I wonder what that grass is gona look like this year.

My understanding of BP's financial obligation is that they are limiting it to $75 million. I guess they think that money can repair the environmental destruction that they have created, along with the losses that so many coastal businesses will sustain. They can bite my a$$. ![]()
